This felted wool purse or tote was created by the late Jackie Hansen and is a truly unique accessory. Each bag is individually hand-knitted using 100% wool and then machine felted in very hot water to produce a dense, structured material. After felting, the purse is carefully blocked into shape, resulting in a distinctive design that holds its form.

Once the bag dries, it becomes water-sensitive. The purse should not be soaked in water; for cleaning, use a lint roller to remove surface dust and stray threads. If needed, gently wipe with a slightly damp cloth while avoiding excessive moisture.

Every purse is constructed with practical details. The entire interior is lined with pre-washed cotton or silk for a soft, smooth finish. A separate foam core base, reinforced with a Plexiglas panel, is integrated into the design to provide extra strength and stability. Magnetic snap closures secure the contents, and dedicated purse feet at the bottom help protect the bag when placed on surfaces.

For proper storage, shift the solid base to one side and lay the purse on its side to maintain its shape. When preparing for use, simply reposition the base flat within the bag and gently fluff the decorative embellishments, including ribbons and eyelash yarns on the exterior. Although the wool is tagged as moth-proofed, it is advisable to store the purse with a few mothballs contained in a small pouch or container.

Handle styles differ based on the design. Some hand-carry models feature classic wooden or polyester handles, while newer versions include metal handles adorned with a variety of beads. In certain cases, Pandora-style beads—possibly glass—are incorporated and are positioned so that non-breakable beads contact surfaces first. If a bead needs replacement, the handles can be detached from their rings for easy servicing.

Shoulder bag styles offer leather straps for added comfort and durability, with some models enhanced by a section of solid stone beads that are designed to be virtually unbreakable.
